The story starts in A.R.G.U.S. headquarters as Simon Baz is finally taking a membership role on the team. He also insists that B'Dg joins him. Just as he is making this revelation there is a huge explosion.

At the Outsider's Mansion the Justice League of America (JLA) face off against the Secret Society. The battle goes in the JLA's favor but Outsider has a trick up his sleeve. He fazes the building out of time leaving the team in his wake. They do capture a few of his team but they are still going to have to find him all over again.

Martian Manhunter

The Martian Manhunter reflects back on the villain Thoth who killed his entire race. Thoth is a parasite who fed off their minds. The Martian Manhunter finds him and battles him but unwittingly releases him into the world.
